Treading Jordan’s Verge

TREADING JORDAN’S VERGE

So* this website is about me and I want to talk about RIVERS.  So I want to say that one river stands for all rivers and that one river is the river Jordan.  I’m going to talk about the river Jordan, the word Jordan and all that it means.  So the title for this website comes from a well known hymn – Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah by William Williams**.  These lines from the hymn are fairly well known:-

“When I tread the verge of Jordan

Bid my anxious fears subside

Death of Death and Hell’s destruction

Land me safe on Canaan’s side”

So* if I am to come to terms with my own mortality and my hope of attaining the promised land I have to understand what these lines are about.  If you want to come with me on this exploration of Jordan’s verge feel free to comment below.

  • * So if you want to appear modern and “with it” start as many sentences as is reasonably possible with “So”.
  • ** You have to admire the Welsh for their economy with names.
